Overview: Walking Dead is the TV show that is soaked with blood, monotone life stories and a dozen of actors who portray the dead who walk like sleepwalkers. (Almost) Every scene is graphic and violent. This particular incident shows a slaughter of a group of people by cannibals.
Review: We are in the big room (1:33 sec) with the tub in the middle. A bunch of tables with instruments and the industrial feel doesn't add any coziness to the place or the situation. The first time we see the victims they are physically abused by the means of tying up their legs and hands and by using force to kneel them over the tub. The scene opens up with the main hero, Rick, who is being tied up. We see the whole process through his eyes. The victims experience mortifying fear of being slaughtered despite of the fact that Rick is the last one in line. Other victims already have gags in their month, signifying the use of force and humiliation.
The tension is intensified by anticipation of violence since the main character sees the cannibals dismembering the body (00:15). We don't see their faces, but it's not even important, the imagination pictures horrors that would happen to Rick and his crew if they don't get away from this trap. The camera shows us the line up of victims who seem to be helpless in their own trouble (00:24). This process or cruelty anticipation is intensified by the cannibals' preparation for the massacre. One of them sharpens the knife in a horrifying bloody apron and the other is practicing the hit with the baseball bat (00:35-00:45). Despite of the panic, the main character's face shows the thought process since he is terrified enough to come up with the brilliant escape plan while others are just freaking out over their inevitable death (1:00).
I find particularly interesting the part where the blood of two victims is running to the middle of the tub while their bodies are helplessly hanging over it. The camera is IN the tub again giving us the main hero's perspective. eh watches blood pouring down and getting closer to him. The three walls with the breathless bodies serving as the ceiling closing up the space creating the image of a box, thus pointing at the hopelessness of the situation (1:30). A few seconds later blood is slowly running down. It approaches the hole in the tub, hugs it and fills the whole screen (1:45). The camera is extremely close to the blood stream and the viewer doesn't see anything else. In that moment blood is the main character with its own life and behavior. We are so mesmerized by its beauty and independent life that we temporary forget about the human victims the blood was drawn from.
